August 26th is Women’s Equality Day. Well, this got us thinking about some of the amazing groups of women who help to make Fort Myers the amazing city that it is. If you are a woman looking to make a difference, you may want to check out one of these great groups:
Zonta Club of Fort Myers – The Fort Myers branch has been operational for over 35 years and seeks to advance the status of women through fund raising and hands-on projects. In addition to local and international projects, the Zonta Club of Fort Myers is a human rights advocate and addresses women’s issues with a special focus on health, education, literacy, and the environment.
Junior League of Fort Myers – The Junior League of Fort Myers is composed of women of all races, religions and national origin who are interested in voluntarism. Since the group’s inception in 1966, they have contributed more than 1,000,000 hours and over $1,000,000 to community projects and programs.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving-Southwest Florida – Since it was found in 1980, this grassroots group has grown by leaps and bounds. The national organization claims to serve a victim or survivor of drunk driving every nine minutes.
Do you belong to women’s group around Fort Myers that we didn’t mention? If so tell us about it in the comments!
